Re: New GT-R? But... 2007?
I doubt that the spoiler or the leather body panels will make it to production. Its a test car genius.

Didn't one of the nissian guys say somthing at the Tokyo Auto salon show bout the ening being the VQ35dett and maybe a v8 option???
Also does nebody see the problem of nissian trying to market a car with 280hp? Remeber japanese power limit would they just post those numbers there? Or just do what they did with R34/R33 just say 280 although they dyno more.

There hasn't been any recent info about a turbo VQ35 or some sort of VK V8 for quite some time. For over a year now, the rumored engine has been a VQ32DETT.

The recent GT-Rs already had 276hp(280ps) or more. The gentleman's agreement between manufacturers was pretty much to avoid rating their cars over 280ps. How much the cars actually produced was fair game. That would explain why the Evos and STis have around 300hp(sometimes more), the Mitsubishi 3000GT/GTO and Toyota Supra had 320hp, the Honda NSX had at least 290hp, and the R34 GT-R had up to 340hp. The agreement has pretty much been done away with. Honda was the first to break the 276hp rating barrier with their new 300hp Legend. Other manufacturers will soon follow suit.

No prob. The '280hp' thing is a little pet peeve of mine. It's 280 ps! It's pferdestärke, not horsepower!! The hp-ps conversion is .98632hp=1ps, so you get 276 hp.

OK. We are all geniuses's . . . . uh we are all smart? Some people would hate the Toyota just because it is a Toyota so I wasn't sure if you were hating the concept of a Japanese super car or the appearance of a test car.
I hope that the GTR will be turbo powered. Easier to make it go faster. Nissan should leave the V8 mass produced sports cars to the U.S. Not that they couldnt though.

Re: New GT-R? But... 2007?
the new skyline would look good if they changed the hood, lights, grill, bumper&possibly the fenders.
But, its still a hot car!

no i was just joking about the funny looking spoiler. i think it would be sweet if toyota came out with another performance car. then it would start another JDM performance car battle...which in result, the consumers (us) would end up with GREAT cars once again, resembling the early 90's.

supposedly from a magazine I was reading today, it said sometime early 2006 but it would be a 2007 model, and the engine would most likely be in essence of the japan 350z engine (speculation on the magazines part as a nissan rep has told them of two types of engines they are thinking of using), also they most likely will keep the old style tail lights! Thats one of my main concerns, they need to keep some originality in it! Oh and its in the newest mag of Sport Compact Cars so pick it up at your nearest newsstand to read up on it!

Re: New GT-R? But... 2007?
The Skyline with 413Hp your talking about is the BNR34 GTR V-Spec II Nur, they sy all you have to do is pull the restrictor. If the Skyline is only RWD I won't touch it! They need to bring back like a 350Hp RB26, and a 400HP RB28. Inline Sixes Rule! Also I wan't AWD GTR's (all around all hauling), and GTS's (drifting, snow drivng, etc.) The 2007 skyline comes out when I get my license. If my dad comes through I'll get an EVO ($30,000 ish budget) so make that GTR cheap!

why do you would want the GTS's RWD for snow driving??? if you wanted to drive a skyline in the snow you would probably want the GTR's AWD....and for the record i doubt nissan will backstep and go with the inline6 RB engine series in the new GTR. i dont mean to get your hopes up but.....a V-configured engine will be used in the new skyline whether it is the VQ, VH, or VK. but most likely, i fore see nissan using a FI VQ...

Re: New GT-R? But... 2007?
RB is dead kiddo's... why use 15 year+ technology? The VQ and VK is the new top dog! I saw something interesting at the NISMO booth in Fontana at the JGTC event... and I took a few pix...
Supercharged VK? No? YEAH! Supposedly it was for the Titan... but this may be a taste of things to come. Will post pic soon!

I too saw that. The rep said it was just a NISMO prototype for SEMA, and they are not sure if they will do ahead with production. I figure making NISMO parts for the Titan would make better sence then making them for the 350z. Reason being, there is already a huge aftermarket for the Z in comparison to the Titan. You could get cheaper performance parts with the same quality ealsewhere. Reguarding the Titan, NISMO could be ahead of the game if they start making parts for the Titan. If you build it, they will buy.
I know none of this really dealt with the GT-R but who cares.
