68 charger
I need some help folks. I have an opportunity to buy a 68 Charger with the original 426, supposedly. What digit in the VIN represents the motor and then what digit ='s which motor size? Also what else should I look for? Thanks so much in advance...from a babe who grew up lovin' those cars!

Re: 68 charger
for a 1968 Charger if it came with a Hemi the fith charecter will be J, found this info on http://members.tripod.com/~DodgeChargers/decode.html, how much are they asking? Even if it is not original the engine itself would be worth 1500 to 2000, let us know

Re: 68 charger
You can tell if it's a hemi just by looking at it. The valve covers are huge and the spark plug wires run through them.
I kind of think the motor would be worth more than 2 grand, they have become hard to find for that kind of money.

Re: 68 charger
BleedDodge, stay with the conversation son, he wants to know how to tell if it had a Hemi off the assembly line, hopefully he knows what one looks like
