Most magazines I've read have criticized the 6-Series for being too expensive to compete with the very similar CLK500, and not good enough to compete with the CLK55 AMG, but if BMW prices the M6 correctly, it should be more then enough competition for the CL Class.

Yea.....I think it may be able to compete also with the CL65. Both are the sports tuned versions of Mercedes and BMW (M-Power and AMG). But I think in some ways the CLK is still competitive with the 3-series, althought the 3-series is a little bit cheaper i think. BUt with BMW's plans of the new 4-series, that may possible be a rival for the CLK.
Also, Mercedes plans to make a convertible version of the CL available in the 2006 model, and would definitely be a competitor with the 645Ci convertible. it should be interesting.

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?
i do not know why they would release an 8. if you remember, when the 8 was released it was a replacement of the 6 series in the 2 door sports segment. that is why they were never ran concurrently, and thus why they wont be ran concurrently. . .

Can't help it...
Hey guys,
Just was browsing on the web to look for the 845ci... I was driving yesterday (am based in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur), and I saw a dark blue BMW 845 ci.. was driving behind it. Looked for the model number, as I hadn't seen it before anywhere.. and yup... 845CI... no joke...
I am sure all u guys have much more knowledge than I have.. but the pic shown before of the 645ci is not the same.. the 845 ci has a different shape at the back, looks somehow like the new 5 series combined with the audi tt...
Let's see whether I will see the car again when I go to Europe next week.. I'll keep ya posted!

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?
People, please understand. You are seeing a 645Ci. I've seen the badges in the 6's and from a certain distance they appear to say 845. It's just the way the badges are shaped. There is no such thing as an 845, and there are no immediate plans of even producing an 8. my sister's friend's dad is Jim McDowell, VP of Sales and Marketing in BMW of NA, and I asked him and he says there is no such thing and there are no immediate plans of a new 8 because right now there is no such market for one. and before anyone else claims to have seen one, TAKE A PICTURE, THIS WAY WE WILL ACTUALLY BELIEVE ALL OF YOU IF YOU GIVE US SOME HARD EVIDENCE. DON't BE CHEAP AND DO A FREAKIN PHOTOSHOP. And if you think you see one, clarify that you're not seeing 645 and not 845. Secondly, if they had a new 8 concept on the streets, it would be all covered up and there would be no identifiable badges on the car. Again, there's no such thing!

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?
And lemme clarify, this is what you are seeing. Yes, the badge at this distance and at that resolution looks like 845 when it is 645.

yesterday, i saw the "845CI" and i took a picture. I'm sure it was an "eight", and not a "six". I think it a joke, cause the car looks exactly like the 645ci..... maybe the owner changed the number by himself to confuse us? =)

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?
It is a 645. Take a closer picture next time. PLease stop trying to prove the existence of a new 8-Series because there is no new 8-series. Why can't you just face it? The badge BMW manufactures has a small gap in the six which distinguishes it as being a six rather than an eight.
Secondly, look at my second to last post.

I was stuck behind this car in bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway and was literally just a few feet away from it for just short of an hour (I could tell you every detail, as I said earlier I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Luckily the driver was enthralled with his phone conversation and didn't notice my stares). I saw the model number very clearly and even wrote it down because I wanted to find out more information about the vehicle, it said "845 CI." Don't give up porsheguy9999, I'm sure your rich kid friend was in fact correct about the 800 series. As I stated earlier this may be an import and may not be avail. in the states as of yet. I remember seeing the Mercedes SLK230 for the first time in Verona, Italy and to my dismay the car was not available in the US until two years later! Nonetheless, I am positive that the BMW845 CI exists and that this model was definately at least an '04/'05 make. A truly beautiful vehicle.

Yes, there is an 845 - I've seen 2 (a convertible and a coupe). Brand new - V12.

Re: New Bmw 8 Series?!?
The coupe had the V12 badging, I could be wrong about the convertible after looking at some of the pictures posted here (maybe a 645) - I'll take a closer look.

You have to be kidding me. Go to www.bmwusa.com and look for the 8-series. I promise you that there isn't one.

Yeah, I know it's not listed on their web-site. What new models offer the V12?
