Re: Would you buy another GrandAM?

I would never buy another grand am. I have a 95 and the coil pack went out, fuel pump, blew a headgasket, now the brakes are fucked up and the cd player went bad, 2 window motors went out, the AC quit working and i paid to have it chraged last year and this year it doesnt work again, and i just think they are terrible cars.

Re: Would you buy another GrandAM?

I bought a brand new one in 1999, it has been nothing but problems. I would of filed lemon law, but was to late. When I bought a new Isuzu in 2001, same thing, filed lemon law right away and won $63,000.00.

Re: Would you buy another GrandAM?

trd....thats not too bad for a 6 year old car...

and i love my 02 gt, but i never buy the same car twice....unless it were to undergo a major change

as for problems....i have had ZERO...then again i take exellent care of my car(something most car owners dont do......lotsa ppl just think they can go to walmart and get their oil changed and think they are takin care of it)

as for the 93....i dunno....3500 is a little high for a 4banger even it were in great condition...it is a 11 year old car after all.

Re: Would you buy another GrandAM?

I would not ... I have a 99 GA/SE2 (3.4 V6)

Awesome car in appearance and lots of power but lots of headaches too:

= brakes - pretty much an annual replacement part
= front wheel bearings - replaced at <40K miles ($300 each at the time, probably less expensive now ...)
= water pump replaced
= driver's side window mounts broke
= passenger window scratched first time the window was rolled down (not too noticeable until I tinted the windows)
= power steering pump replaced
= power steering rack and tie rods replaced
= lower manifold gasket leak (happened on my mom's monte carlo too)
= 3 generators (before my mechanic figured out it was the PCM -- haven't replaced the PCM yet .... my mechanic figured out a workaround for that problem -- which I confirmed w/ a GM service mgr ... whom shall remain nameless)

I cannot say I would recommend a Grand Am ...

Ive got a 94 GT, black, 55k miles, fully loaded pw, pl, keyless entry, cd, bucket front seats, 3.1 v6. I bought it last year with 46k miles on it for only $4,100. So $3500 is pretty high for a 4 cyl SE, i wouldnt pay more than $2500 for it. As far as if i would buy another.....probably not. Its a decent car but the engine makes alot of funny noises and the suspension rides like crap on a bumpy road. It is however pretty reliable and fairly quick. I have had problems with the a/c and alternator. Best advice i can give is have it looked at thouroughly by a trusted mechanic.
