Re: Grand AM GT Vrs Nissan Spec V???

When I had my 2.8 L Camaro(86) I could only guess the top speed because the speedo only went up to 85 mph, and I peged the speedo. I could only guess by how much faster I could get per 1000 rpm's and calculate from the measurement from the 85 mph to the rpm change untill it wouldn't go any faster. Figured about 120 mph.

you gotta remember too , that the speed will be closer and closer at those higher gears , so your not gonna be very accurate figuring it out that way. Do you know the gear ratios of your camaro? This girl I know is good at figuring the top speed of cars by gear ratio.

Re: Grand AM GT Vrs Nissan Spec V???

I don't know what it was, but I did calculate from RPM to speedo reading in 5th gear only. But that was years ogo. I don't have it any more. Damn that British street. The pavement was so smooth, on a dry sunny day, the sun glared like it was reflecting off a mirror. (it's a corner of course) Then one day I was driving to work and the road was wet. The car in front of me was going fast, but he had a front wheel drive. Needless to say, I fish tailed on into a tree. It was like driving on ice. It was a good car when I had it.

gettin back to the original topic i have a 2000 ga gt with a borla cat back, dr.speed cai, and an autotranse interceptor and i have raced an 03 v spec. it was also slightly mod'ed such as exhaust and intake. the race was from a dig for a little over 1/8 mi (the local street racin spot in the city) neway i whored it by 2-3 cars. of course there are other varibles like drivers ect. but still theres my take on it.

Re: Grand AM GT Vrs Nissan Spec V???

I'm trying to figure out a low cost CAI that I can do myself. I was looking at others online and did come up with an idea. The exhaust will be down the road a while. Echo, do you have a 1/4 mile time and speed for your car? I don't have a place around here to get an actual time, just a measured off place a friend told me about, and use a stop watch. 2-3 cars over the Vspec is smokin great.
