I have a 96 cherokee... is there any way i can tell if it is a late 96 and has a 97 motor in it?

Look on the fuel rail and on the end of it, see if there is a regulator on it.
If not, it's on the pump in the tank and most likely a '97 model.

Replaced my cat. conv. - breakage inside caused hesitation problems. I heard some slight "clanking" sounds on idle that indicated loose metal somewhere. When my mechanic took the cat. off, it was pretty bad. Also replaced fuel filters but nothing else...no further problems. 1996 Cherokee SE
