Door beeper removal
Hi,
I have a 1991 Ford Escort GT,... I hate the door beeper/chime and want to chuck it, but I haven't been able to figure out how to remove it or where it is located. Some help please? |

ok first off i would reccomend NOT diconnecting the warning because its just thet. that thing has saved me soooo many times from leaving my keys in the car or my lights on. that being said, pull the fuse. look on the fuse box it should be in there... i cant remember which one exactly... ill get back to you on the removal of the unit i cant remeber exacly how to remove it off the top of my head... reply to me if you want me to tell you exactly how to remove the unit.
oh and i work at a car wash and thoes things are ALWAYS GOING OFF and it bugs the hell out of me... try listining to that eight hours a day... |

lol, and I bet the Escorts have the most annoying buzzer, too ):
thanks I think would like to know ...just becuase I can't stand not being able to find it! you say it is in the fuse box? Well that would explain why the sound is coming from it I thought there was only fuses inside? Let me know, Mr. Chips |

pull the fuse inside the fuse box. i think it should be the room fuse. if you can deal without having a dome light. try that. no the actual beeper is somwhere else. no actualy the audis and BMWs are seccond place cause the beep rappidly the land rovers are the WORST! they have a contstant buzz same thing with some benzes.

no it is not the room fuse .
That disabled much more than the dome and beeper, too. I don't think the engine would start with that fuse gone. I'm guessing that killing the actual beeper is not that easy, so ill just set the ignition to lock from now on |

I fixed the problem very simply. At the front of the door (on the door frame as opposed to on the actual door) there is a little peg that comes out when you open the door and goes back in when it closes. Coat the peg with a generous amount of krazyglue and close the door for about ten minutes. Viola! No more beep.
By the way, it's a mistake to go disconnecting fuses because this stuff is so tied together you never know what you'll screw up.

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... both ways are not the BEST way to do this. while yes it is not the BEST thing to do just pulling fuses, it is also not the best to krazy glue the button, because if you ever decide to sell it you would want to undo that... i still strongly reccomend NOT changing it so it doesnt beep... but again im still looking for the way to remove the actual beeper... ill post the instructions when i figure it out

on the far outside edge of the fuse box in the back.. theres a small flat white connector with 3 or so wires in it.. unplug that and the door chime will stop forever..or at least until you plug it back in.
