1991 bmw e30 m3 dtm 1/24
Hi all,
Haven't built anything for 6 months, and I am starting my new build, one of my favorite race car all time, a 91' BMW M3 DTM 1/24 from Beemax. Even just 6 months, I felt rusty already. Anyway, started with the base coat on the body, and done with few other parts, next step is decals, should take some time. Here are some WIP photos. Thanks for checking them out. Hopefully the orange peel can be fixed after decal, clear, and polish. Wheels are done. Headlights and front grill are done, the headlights were more difficult than I thought, it's great that Beemax comes with 2 extra highlight lenses, which I ended up using them all. Disc brakes done using the photoetch parts from Beemax. Springs done with the help of Tamiya's panel line paint. Exhaust is done with Tamiya's panel line paint for weathering. Seat is done also. That's all so far. |

Completed the chassis, and wheels are on. I think I overdone the weathering with the Tamiya panel line paint, a little regard, but no going back, probably won't do weathering to the chassis again.
Chassis Rear suspension before installing the wheel Wheels on. |

Update on decals. Completed most decal applications except the right side of the car. I messed one one of the gold circle decals for the door. I thought it was just a sticker, accidentally peeled it off, and it turns out to be just a water transfer decal :< Asking Beemax if I can get a replacement. Anyway, I really like Beemax's decals, it is strong, easy to bend into shape, and it's quick to be ready for application after dipping into water. Here are some photos.

Small update, steering wheel on, interior is completed.
Touched up the fenders not covered by decals with Gravity Colors M3 tri-colors. The paint matched perfectly. Rear fender, before. Rear fender, after. Front fender, before. Front fender, after. Rear bumper, after. Front bumper, after. Last edited by E46nm52; 12-09-2017 at 10:50 PM. |
