Re: car is over heating help please

Gurgling back into reservior is ussually Radiator Fan Not running when it is suppose to run. Is the Fan Motor bad, or the relay, or the temp switch that enables the fan, or low water level not touching the temp switch.

Wouldn't you want to turn on your heater instead of your A/C. Thus drawing heat from your engine. In my past experience using A/C has worse effects than that of using heater. Correct me if I am wrong but the guage has always dropped some for me. Just it is a hot one in the car but its better than fing up the engine.

Re: car is over heating help please

I already found the mistake in my vw. A few weeks ago i replaced a tube from the radiator circuit. In that operation i replaced and cleaned the radiator... and i made i mistake, i didnt "bleed" the radiator well, so it gained air... and air prevents the coolant to get into touch with the termostat, so the 1st fan velocity didnt worked... i looked in the net and come with a solution, i already did it and now its working well.

1 - warm the car to the middle temperature without the cap that covers the coolant resovoir.
2 - And now the trick... turn on the heat on the car to maximum... the coolant will run through the tubes to warm the air to warm the veihucle interior, and you will see bubles in the resovoir... after a few minutes until it stops give some gas to the car... just a little to bring the air up. turn off the car.
3 - with a key, unscrew the termostat until it comes a little water, as soon you see water, screw it again. cover with the cap the resovoir and try it out.

For me did work, try to find in google.com HOW TO CLEAN CAR RADIATOR

I just hope i dont have a leek in somewhere else, because if i have the air will enter again and bring back the problem. tomorrow i will try it again to see if it is ok.

Try this and give me your result to ricardo.oliveira@sm.efacec.pt

Hasta la bista.... and pass this solution to others

Re: car is over heating help please

I was having the same problem with my 97 Cav. Drove from Edmonton to Calgary and had no problem. Was driving home and it overheated about 10 times. Could not figure it out...then got home and noticed that the rad cap had a sliver of a crack in it. Therefore it was overheating and was losing power. Could not hardly see the crack in the cap.

air in cooling sys

on some vehicles you have to open an air valve while filling system with coolant/water. this allows air to bleed out. without bleeding air out your cooling system will have air pockets which can cause overheating.

Angry

theres a mickey mouse way to band aid the problem... I would say thats not a good idea. Your asking for major problems by "covering up" the real reason for overheating.
