Need advice for 97 3000gt base

I came across a 97 3000gt base Coupe 2dr on sale. Everything seems to have the most recent tuneup to it.

122k miles, and ive always wanted to have this car. I've read a few reviews about the car and so far all the reviews have been nothing but good things but couple things that do scare me are that the common timing belt issue on the engine and also for you 3000gt owners, with the discontinuation, do you have trouble finding parts for the car? Does it take longer and cost more? And if twin car, the stealth, has the familiar body, will you be able to use some of the stealth parts for the 3000gt?

If there's anything else I need to know, I would love to hear your guys opinions

The 97 base 3000GT has the SOHC engine. The timing belt is not as big of an issue on that. If the car is an automatic, then it is basically a goood looking, but slow car.

It does share a lot of parts with the Stealth. Parts really aren't hard to find if you know where to look. There is a pretty good supply of vendors out there..

Gonna be test driving a 97 base 3000gt with 120k+ miles. What are key components that I should be looking for?

Just all the normal used car stuff...smoke, odd noises or smells, smooth shifts, no warning lights, etc.

About finding parts, never had a problem finding anything for the 93 I have. Between all the wrecked GTs, ebay and salvage yards, no problems. Though the parts are a bit more expensive it seems unless you look around. But I haven't had to get a lot of parts either, so a lot depends on how well the car has been taken care of in the past.

I'd say don't let the 122k miles worry you as much as the typical signs of abuse, it's more about the maintenance and abuse than the miles I think. I got mine off a lot with 142k miles on it, now it's at 252k, and haven't spent a ton on it. My experience with the gt's has been fix a problem once & its stayed fixed, a honest mechanic helps tons, too.
