Rear Differential Information

Going to replace my open style rear end with a locking style rear end. Probably get a Richmond Gear product. what I want to know is how do I find out how many splines are on my axle and what is the ring gear size. Is it 7.500 or a 7.625? I know it is a 3.42 ratio.

I have a 93 sonoma 4 wheel drive. 4.3Z engine. Ext. cab.

Thanks

Re: Rear Differential Information

Check the RPO, (Regular Production Options) code sticker. White sticker with black letters, about 2" x 3". Possibly in the glove box, or a door jamb. There are several columns of 3 character codes, post the ones that start with "G" and we can tell you exactly what you're looking for.

Re: Rear Differential Information

The GU6 only tells the axle ratio, which you already know. The only way to know how many splines are on the axle shaft is to pull it out. Once you have it out, (you've already got the cover off) measure the ring gear
