Question Rear speakers not working

01 Regal LS with concert sound II system. While trying to adjust the stereo today I found my rear speakers aren't working. If I turn the fader all the way to the rear I can hear a bit of sound out of the right speaker but if I turn the balance to the left I get nothing from the left and the same sound out of the right. I reached the rear speaker wires and wiggled them, and they don't seem to be loose. Is there anything I could check, or do I need new speakers?

Thanks

Re: Rear speakes not working

I would be happy to look into this for you. In order to do so, I will need the VIN for the vehicle and the current mileage. You can feel free to post here on the thread or send it to me via private message. I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.

Tricia from GM Customer Service,

If you want to be really helpful and support AF's membership especially with similar issues then best to reply and discuss in an open forum versus via PM.

Also, why do you need the VIN and mileage for a radio issue?

Re: Rear speakes not working

To the OP (jont671),

I had a similar issue with my '99 Regal LS with Concert Sound II and it turned out to be bad rear speakers.

I have no issue with discussing things on the forum. However I recognize that many people would like to keep personal information, such as VIN, address, and phone number, private. With the VIN I am able to look into recall information or bulletins that may be able to assist members with their vehicles. I can appreciate the concern, want, and need to share information on the forum. With that in mind, I will be sure to publicly post anything that I feel will apply to several members. Thank you.

Re: Rear speakes not working

Sounds fair enough and thanks for contributing to AF based on your resources. However, please review the context of the member's issue or topic. Many do not require any review of recalls or tech bulletins so VIN info or mileage may not be needed. Such as the OP's radio issue. Most of the time good help comes in the form of actual experience with these issues and thats why people post on AF or similar auto forums to seek help from automotive enthusiasts that own or have owned the year/make/model in question or in a professional capacity such as an auto tech/mechanic. Reviewing recalls or tech bulletins very seldom if ever fixes problems but I guess it doesn't hurt either.

Talking Re: Rear speakers not working

Thanks for the offers of help. A few days after I posted this the speakers started working again. I went to check for a loose connection or a bad ground so I wiggled the wires around, and at first the were still out, but a day or so later they began working. I guess I have a bad wire or connection, but as long as the work I'm happy.
