Doing front shocks is that much harder

With limited knowledge about S10 4x4's , I'd say it shouldn't be anymore difficult than the rear shocks .The front has a tube shock just like the rear - correct ?

It's been a while, but yes the old Blazers had monotube shocks all around. If you can wrap the old shocks with heavy wire like an old hanger or good rope, you can keep the length short, then unbolt the top or bottom and drop the control arm with a jack, they come right out. You can get the new ones in if you wrestle the length down a bit again using old hanger wire (a friend helps), but wear safety goggles and wrap it around the ends well. Install in place, raise the arm to bolt the other end, and cut the wire to release.

Not using wire/rope is more fuss but no fear of breaking wire/rope. Hope this helps!

I may be wrong here but most GM's have a rubber flap under the hood on each wheel well above the shocks where you can get to the top of the shock. If there is enough clearance you can pound a 1/2 " deep well socket to the nut on top of the shock - then using as many socket extentions as possible, yank the nut back and forth until the top of the shock bolt breaks off - if this is unsuccessful then jack the vehicle up, remove the tire and using all the appropriate precautions cut the bolt off with a sawsall. Then its just a simple task of unbolting the bottom of the shock and letting it drop down.
