98 sts shifting
1998 seville sts.. I had to remove the gear shift linkage off the trans. To do some work. I removed the gear shift switch too.how it is back together and i can t get any forwerd gears. When i put the shifter in gear ,d 1,2,or 3 the car stalles out. It does go in revers smoothly and drives nice backwards... Thank you 4 your help...carl

Sounds like the range sensor on the trans is out of adjustment or in wrong and the pcm cannot see the proper selection and the unit is in reverse and drive at the same time, maybe.

On the top of the trans where the linkage connects.
