Honda cooliant trouble
I have a 1998 Honda Accord LX 5 speed with 298,000 miles on it.
On Saturday night heading to work I noticed the temperature setting rise all the way to hot. I pulled into parking lot and noticed cooliant dripping from hoses. My step-son replaced the bottom and upper hose on Sunday. Driving home about 2 miles into my trip the temperature setting rose again to the hot meter. Monday we changed the thermostat as it was the original part as it was stuck. Today while driving the meter rose again on the temperature gage all the way to hot again. What could be wrong now? |

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
Is the radiator fans coming on? Could be temp sensor. Other than that a head gasket. You said the thermostat was replaced already. A few other slight possibilities, broken water pump or clogged radiator.

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
Is the radiator fans coming on?Did not check that one.
Really not mechnically inclined, but I will have my mechanic check that too. Also will have the radiator flushed. My cousin just advised he had the trouble with his toyota..Bought Thermostat from Autozone like I did and it gave the same troubles. He went to dealership and bought one there. Replaced and no more troubles. I think I will take that avenue too. Thanks for the assist. |

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
We don't buy from Autozone, we try not to install their parts too if the customer supplies them. They are LOW quality.

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
I will flush the radiator on Wednesday.
I will buy a new Thermostat from Honda and replace the one from Autozone. Will take your advice and have radiator fans and temp sensor checked. I hope it is not Headgasket/Water Pump. |

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
Did you bleed the system after installig thermostat? No, we did not and that was something the Honda Tech advised today, but we think we found the problem. The AC Condensor and Radiator Fan is not turning when tested. So I will replace this on Thursday.
Will let u know if this rectifies the problems. Will also have the Cooliant flushed. |

Re: Honda cooliant trouble
This just an update my recent car troubles.
I just replaced the the AC Condensor and Radiator Fan and we also put in a Thermostat from honda and all is working normally again. Thanks to all who provided assistance to this guy who has no knowledge of the underworkings of vehicles. But I did learn a few thanks. Mike |
