04 3.8 Where is the power steering fluid reservoir?
I have a 2004 Impala LS with a 3.8 V6. I've owned this car for 5 years. I've never been able to find the power steering fluid reservoir. I was starting to think it must be electric and not have any fluid. But I read the owner's manual and it says it's on the passenger rear side of the engine compartment. I looked again yesterday and I see absolutely nothing. I was thinking maybe I need to take off the cover... so I did that and still don't see it anywhere. I'm thinking I need to check the fluid someday... I've owned the car since brand new and now has over 100,000 miles on it.

you have to look down behind the engine. If you are standing on the passenger side of the car looking at the serp belt the power steering pump pulley is the lower left most pulley next to the firewall. the cap will be under the alternator. It is not an easy thing to see, check, or fill!

It basically sits low on the back of the engine ( passenger side ) underneath the serpentine belt tensioner pulley . Difficult to get to ( I know from experience ! ) .

Ok, I found it. And yes, it is in a very stupid spot. I can't figure out why they wouldn't of made a really long dipstick like the oil has so it would be semi easy to get at. I can't figure out why GM put it in such a stupid spot.
