1989 ford f150 wont stay running

I was told that the ignition control module was to blame. I looked at it and it was covered in oil from a previous issue that was fixxed. I cant seem to get the distributor off to get the the module and ideas would be nice

she starts runs for 10 min then dies or sometimes wont start at all. I have fuel, (pressure test specs good) nice spark on all cylinders,new plugs fuel pump ,sensors, fuel filter, wires cap full tune up?

Also my ignition control module is grey someone told me that some are grey and some are black you cant mix the 2.. just want my truck to run

You don't need to remove the distributor to replace the ignition module if you have the proper tool. But, and I emphasise BUT, your problem is probably NOT the ignition module. Usually when an ignition module on this vintage of Ford vehicle goes dead, it's dead for good.

Your problem is most likely the PIP(profile ignition pickup) inside the distributor. You do need to remove and disassemble the distributor to replace the PIP. Your problem could also be the ignition coil, I would try the coil first as it is much cheaper and easier to replace.
