Progress On 1959 Cadillac Lowrider
This will be the build up thread only. Altered the plans for the Caddy today, will no longer be black or purple & will no longer have purple roof lining. New plans are Candy apple red over silver undercoat with cream interior. The 20 & 21 inch wheels will stay, the car will still be lowered and will have the back seat.
Day One Not much today, engine, exhaust, suspension & engine bay items painted. Airbags were cut, sanded & drilled to lower the car. Suspension, engine, drivetrain & frame will all be gold. Exhaust system will be silver. The airbag suspension is very easy to lower, I lowered the back end down 2-3mm just by cutting the connection down which joins into the airbag, all 4 bags can be sanded or cut down to make it even lower, today I lowered the front around 6-7mm and the rear 4-5mm. That's it for day one, tomorrow I will hopefully get the engine done. I will have to wait a couple of days to get a can of Candy apple red to spray it with though. Sorry for the not-so-great lit pictures. That circle is the steering wheel, it will be done in a pearl effect maroon. |

Well if there is enough people who are interested I'll keep the progress going but if not so many are I may only upload 1 picture at a time.

I am incredibly interested in this project. I can't believe soi many people missed it! I love seeing older cars get all customized with gold and chrome and wheels that were thought to be monstrous in the car's period. please show us more:flash:

Sneak Peek
Not an update, but a sneak peek at what it looks like lowered. I might lower it a little bit more, also a shot fo the engine which is the closest to an update for now.
Needs a bit of weight in the front though, it sits too high for me. |

Sorry I forgot to say who made it when I saw your post before, it's a Monogram kit. I'll PM some pictures of the box to you if you like. I tried some 13s on this but it's way too big! In scale it is a 1:25 but it is 22.8cm long(9inches). And the front wheel arches are too big for 13s, 20s look good though I think.

Sorry for not being around, bad weather!
Day Two:
Just a little bit done, Gold Vinyl found and will be put on later. Interior is still undecided but I would like to do it in cream coloured leather. Two pictures of the Vinyl follow, you can see just how gold it looks, and shine it has, which is alot! Sorry for lacking the progress but it's been really miserable weather here lately and with new puppies arriving I havn't had much time to do the Caddy. I will continue in one weeks time. This coming week will see the Superbird and Superbee under progress again. The Camaro might get painted in a purple colour but I will see. Who thinks the Caddy would look good in Tamiya Blue Violet, with all the bling? The chrome strips down the sides of the Caddy will be gold vinyl and it will wrap around the back and front bumpers. Sound good? Full out Pimp? I think that the purple sounds good, don't you? |
