paying top dollar for body kit installations
Does anyone have any previous experience with getting their bodykit professionally installed at a body shop. I know that its something i can do myself but i have seen too many cars with kits put on by their owners that look like crap. I was wondering what is a good price to pay to get a full body kit mounted at a body shop that does(very good) kit installations.
I know i can just goto different local shops, hell, I live in Chicago. I have the internet though, and possibly i can save some of the trouble by going to N number of shops and averaging out all of the prices.... thanks, matt |

Re: paying top dollar for body kit installations
i only spend like 200 to get mine installed( also got the car painted at the same time if that makes a difference) and it was fiberglass so it needed to be installed professionally. i know maaco collision repair also does it by the hour so depends on the body kit.

whoa, i see a red light. I heard very bad things about maaco's paint jobs. If i dont trust them on something they specialize in i highly doubt that i would bring my body kit there, so they can mount it. im sorry but that sounds too weird, 200 bucks for a body kit install and paint.... matt |

MACCO = NO!! I had my first car 1990 Dodge Daytona painted there for like 200 bucks with in 6 months it was flaking off at the corners, I also had over spray on my sexy hubcaps.

Re: paying top dollar for body kit installations
Maaco isn't all that bad. Beastiek, you payed $200 for the cheapest crappiest paint they had, obviously it's going to flake off. Also, did you take into consideration any prep work? Did you do any? In order for paint to stick, you have to wet sand at the very least. Even better is to strip the paint, prime it, and wet sand. We had a car painted by Maaco, with the $550 paint job, and preped it ourselves, and it still looks perfect.

....eeeerr, what about the body kits? I need to know a good range that a shop charges to put on a body kit. Figure a body kit that needs to be shaved and cut, holes need to be drilled, etc.
Anyone have any experiences? I swear its so freekin lame how all these AF forums were "cleaned up" and all the good searchable content has diminished, then i wouldnt have to be asking this question, im in the last 2 years there was a good post on body kit jargon. |

Re: paying top dollar for body kit installations
my friend got a maaco paint job and it looks alright but it is starting to come up around the windshield, but thats bc after they got the paintjob they replaced the windshield. The maaco by my house supposedly has a fantastic painter and they say the only reason the paint jobs are shitty is bc of the paint they use. So im gonna get a paintjob there if i get one, but im gonna buy nice high quality paint.
