99 astro that starts and dies immediatly
I've got a 99 astro, engine code w that had a fuel tank full of rust and would lose fuel pressure and die. I pulled the tank and replaced it with a new one as the rust was prohibitive. Also replaced the pump and filter. Put it back together today and now it won't stay running. The fuel pump spooles up when ignition is turned on, spikes to 60 pounds and settles down to 55. The engine will start but dies immediatly. Have switched relays around, same result. Pulled relay and jumped pump terminal straight to twelve volts where it runs continuously but engine still starts and dies the same way.
I'm pulling what's left of my hair out! Any one have any ideas? Thanks! |

Re: 99 astro that starts and dies immediatly
Really like this site. Found my own problem!
Apparently GM built in an over ride so the engine will not run with the fuse to the gauges blown. Keep you from running around with out knowing oil pressure or temp. Not sure what caused it to blow yet, but a 10 amp fuse fixed my problem for now! |
