Re: Ford Escort RS1600 MK.I - Belkits 1:24

This is a welcome release. I hope it sells really well, I'll certainly be getting at least one. If the sales are good, maybe Belkits could release an up to date Mk2 in the future..?? The old Esci/Revell kit needs a lot of work to bring it up to a nice standard. Having a nice Mk2 would be great..

It's common knowledge the Belkits aim to provide a variety of version of their rally cars and the rear seat delete possibly be an option.

Most 1/24 -1/25 rally cars don't engine detail but if you insist...

Engine options for those interested are already out there in a variety of kits. (common knowledge to some I'm sure)

Tamiya Lotus 7 : has a pre crossflow which can be easily converted to x flow , and naturally raising the block height should be done also.

Monogram '85 Ford SVO Mustang : has a Pinto engine that will require de turboing

Tamiya Lotus Europa : has a Lotus Twin cam which needs very little modifications.

esci /Revell Mk2 escort has a nice engine BDG engine which can be used.

Apart from the Mk2 escort these kits still turn up cheap if your patient and getting the engine in resin is a good option IMO.

Handy reference is your interested..

Anyone else thinking this is kick Revell in the right spot to re release the Mk2...
Hum! Glad to read that, since I got an old esci kit missing only one part, the body shell, that turn it to unusable state.... Guess I know what to do with it now...

Fantastic choice of kit release and endless permutations for after market decals.
Congratulations to the guys at Belkits, I can't wait to get some of these kits.

The long wait will be agonising!

I hope Revell will NOT re-re-release the old (but respectable) Esci kit ! I preferably hope Belkits will do its own MKII, as modern standards have seriously increased our expectations.

Talking about expectations, now that Belkits decide to give a youngtimer its chance, what can we dream for the future ? All the forgotten (I mean, by the plastic industry) gr.B cars of course : Audi S1, Delta S4, Metro 6R4,... and I would kill for an Opel Manta 400. Lots and lots of possible liveries !

I'm just bumping this thread with some photos Belkits have just uploaded to their Facebook page.

They say they are at the point of finalizing the tooling.
