2001 ford taurus wiring issue?
Hey all, I'm very new to the community, but I recently just picked up a project car that I was told the wiring wasn't the best.
I've got most of the issues fixed, but I cant for the life of me figure out what wire this is to replace it- I assume it might be related to the ignition, since the car starts but will not accelerate. Any ideas? |

Re: 2001 ford taurus wiring issue?
That's the noise suppression capacitor, primarily there to reduce noise on the AM radio. I wouldn't expect it to prevent the engine from accelerating, unless maybe the other cut end of the wire is shorting to ground. The other end of the wire should go to a single wire connector, likely gray, just a few inches away.
You can get an idea what it will look like, or even to replace it, by searching for the part number on it. From your photos it appears to be XL1F-18801-AB. The 18801 is probably the important part of the part number if you plan to buy a replacement, but you'll also want to make sure the mounting bracket matches. -Rod |
