Re: Cheap Speed?

Hey PunkAlex, I'm sorry if my response came off as a flame, I'm just a real sarcastic person, (so everyone tells me). If you are gay or not, its none of my buisness and I shouldnt have said anything. However, In my opinion stripping a car is not technical, unless your asking how to strip it. Anyhow, you should have a look at those free mods.

i'll have to make this fast (my next class is about to start -phil 1054 lol) but as for cheep speed well, there really is not an ans for that but here are some things that i know from exp. will work (done on a 90 DX hatch civic) homemade intake, gutted catalitic, port the intake mani with a damn drill or whatever you have (be carefull..), and take the rear seats out along with all of the molding/carpet in the back and in the trunk. that wont give you any more than like 6-14 or so HP but it is free. --if you dont give a flying **** about your interior hehe. -i wanna buy a 240sx coupe to strip and have some fun w/ ...

I was letting my mind wander in biology today (i dont give a fuck about chromatin!) and i realized something:

When i talk about stripping the interior, im talking about in a junker like im gonna have (crx soon). More than likely the seats will be torn, the carpet soiled, and the plastic moldy and broken. So stripping it would actually be an improvement. Now in say a 99 civic, stripping perfectly good interior is different! I now see where you guys are coming from when you say stripping a car is stupid, but still, im driving a junker, so why does it matter?

I agree: if your car is already a piece of crap, stripping it might actually be an aesthetic and a functional improvement. Do you have a car now, or would the crx be your daily driver?

I did have a 5th gen vx hatch which i got for butt cheap, but for a reason...it had some insane frame damage....warped, stretched, and anythign else that can happen to the frame was there. Now im getting either a 2nd gen crx or 4th gen hatch. Either way its gonna be my daily driver (5 miles to school...what fun). So even if its uncomfortable, i wouldnt mind too much.

I personally wouldn't strip out my car unless I had a secondary daily driver that was a little more practical. How often are you going to want to ride around in a noisy, vibration-prone, uncomfortable hunk of bare sheetmetal, however fast it may be? The choice is yours, of course, but that's just my .

Re: Cheap Speed?

I think stripping the interior out of a 17 second car is silly. It just makes you look like a wanna-be. I say do a motor swap and skip the show-tubes and fart-pipe. If you want to make a 4cyl car fast you either need to buy one with a really high tech motor, swap a high tech motor or install a turbo. None of which is cheap or easy. It also depends on how much you drive. If fuel economy is not a major concern then buying a car with a V6 or V8 is cheaper speed than souping up a 4.

V6 cheaper speed than 4? like what, a ford taurus? Its not as expensive as your somewhat bias opinion seems to present. Its just a matter of self fabrication and junkyard luck.

Probably not a Ford Taurus, but surely a Pontiac Grand Am/Prix, Nissian Maxima, or a slew of other sporty sedans would beat most stock 4cyls. And many of them depreciate pretty quickly so older ones are pretty affordable.
