Re: roadrunner

wow and welcome to the conversation... well your a little late, oh i'd say, ah i don't know 3 weeks or so... but thanks anyway for your "comment" that was cute a buick boat anchor ha.. i was about to laugh honest : and on the subject of funny cars... i don't give a rats ass about funny cars... i like REAL cars, cars that you can drive around and are not meant for a trip down the track and thats their only purpose... anyone can restore a car maybe true.. but it takes a real jackass to cut one up (contradictory statement to the stupid stickers idiots put on their cars after they've hacked it to hell so they can call it unique, and by doing so have improved there cars 1/4 time) as for the hemi... do you have one..? no? then shut up cause you don't know what your talking about... and your making fun of buick eh? again... do you have one? no? then shut the hell up! cause you definitely don't know what your talking about, and the hemis they use are made for racing like that... if you had a clue about what we were talking about... it was the street hemis... not those numbnuts, now i know you had to say something and i know you thought you were funny by making the comment about Buicks but... truthfully it was a failed attempt to be funny and a stupid ass comment so if you don't mind would you put a little thought into your next post? please? thanks

Traffic begets traffic. You need a critical mass of core posters to draw the part timers. I have 2 other bulletin boards I post heavily on. One for Mopars and one for road racing.

Re: roadrunner

yes, mopars were known more for torque and less for hp, which when racing in the 1/4 mile, torque is the only thing driving that car down the strip not HP.

They are out there. Rust free is the hardest part. Try to get a decent body if you can. Also, these cars are amazingly expensive to restore, so make sure the car you buy is the one you like because you'll never get the money back you put into it. Good luck.

I'm sorry, but I hear sour grapes here...The 425hp rating was way conservative, as they were trying to fool not only the insurance companies, but trying NOT to scare the competition. I'm sure no 426 Hemi left the factory making less then 525hp, with the fastest "street" car ('68 Hemi Dart) making about 600!!! The first 427s (NASCAR's famous 'Mystery Motor' 427) making more, but they all broke, and the "W" based 427 was scapped. The only engines that competed with the Hemi were LS6 454s, ZL-1 427s, 440 6 Packs and the ultra-rare Stage II 455 Buicks.

Re: Re: Re: roadrunner

One other thing. The basic 1964 426 Hemi design in used in 8000hp Top Fuelers. Think: 74 more inches, 6.5:1 compression, 45psi boost, dual plus attached to 2 magnetos running rocket fuel=8000hp. 'Nuff said

Re: Re: Re: Re: roadrunner

I'll grant that the big Six-Pack could beat the more expensive Hemi, but while the 3 2bbls were a bitch to tune, the 2 4bbls on the Hemi were worse!

Re: roadrunner

Hi, I just started getting into cars thanks to my dads 74' Road Runner. I was wondering if you guys have any good websites, catalogs, etc. where I could find decals, grills, body accesories, etc. I've looked all over the internet but what I haven't been able to find a grill for it and also the black parts of the "nose"/ hood scoop.

Re: roadrunner

Ok thanks. I took a reall quick glance at a few of them and looks like they might be helpful. I'll look through them with my dad to see if we can find some parts. I'll take a picture of the car and post it here when I get a chance. Thanks again.

Re: roadrunner

the 1970 roadrunners will probably be my favorite roadrunners because thats what my dad had, and what got me interested in muscle cars, unfortunatly a drunk driver in a new pickup totaled that beautiful beautiful car, but mabe i'll find another someday
