BTW on that link I gave, the 69' road runner with the 440 6 pack does 12.91 in the 1/4. Buick GS does 13.38. Thats a HUGE difference. Several car lengths.
Your wildcat would be a football field behind ANY HEMI car at the end of 1320 feet. |

Anyway, the 6 pack doesn't make enough difference to equal 4 tenths in the 1/4. It's only 15 HP more for peet sake.

Face it, each brand has it's magic 500hp killing machine engines. Chev had it's huge 427s and 454s which ruled the drag strips all over the country. Ford's mighty 427 side oiler, cammer, and high risers went on to great success in their respective uses; circuit racing and drag racing, and NASCAR was never the same after the hemi roadrunners stormed into the field, complete with huge aerokit. it was enough to have them banned. But I guess the hemi is more popular as the fave of muscle car fans because, well, the design is still used today, albeit in billet supercharged form, Top Doorslammers still use the 40 year old Hemi design in their engines. So how bout we all agree to disagree?

So if you want to argue about the SS 454 being faster now, here is a link for you:
http://www.musclecarclub.com/musclec...s-50fast.shtml Now of course it's only .02 faster, but the cuda also only had 3.54 gears. Stick some 4:10's like it's supposed to have and it will be closer to 12's, if not in the 12's. As you can see the 440+6 is 2 tenths faster cuz it has 4:10's. So there, proved you wrong twice. Have anything else to add so I can do it again? Or will you finally admit to being wrong?

Re: roadrunner
and i never said the 440+6 was faster than the Hemi....it doesn't matter what we say your a mopar man and i'm a Buick man... neither one of us is going to admit to anything... and just because a site says something does NOT make it true anyone can make a site and say oh this car had 700 hp right out of the factory, no matter what sits we tell each other to go to or what we already know neiher one of us is going to say we're wrong and instead of proving me wrong you're making excuses on the cars you're talking about, the gears... the carburators... whatever mopar needed their hemis and 6 packs so they can make their trip down the strip and feel good that they barely beat the other car... but a win is a win. I've been to musclcarclub.com and have sen he cuda and chevelles and all that stuff and like i said... words don't win races...

Those 1/4 numbers are from official sources like Car and Driver, Motortrend, ETC. It wasn't just some guy posting numbers of what they thought was faster.
LOL I wasn't making excuses, I was just giving the reason the HEMI cuda was slower than the 440+6. But hey, it doesn't matter because they both were a lot faster than the Buick! LOL |
