Help identifying engine in a 6000 series GMC
I found a 73-77 GMC 6000 series truck that has a big block. I searched the net but couldn't find a site that I can decode to find out exactly what engine it has.
Can anyone here help me on this? Can get the engine for $400 and it runs real good. Would this be a good engine to put in a Chevelle? Can these engines be built up to perform well? Thanks in advance, Bob |

Welcome to AF. Get the casting number off the block and go to mortec.com for id info. Most likely a 366 or 396 truck engine which were not performance oriented .
