Timing Belt discussion
(1) My GMC Envoy has over 220,000 miles on it and I was wondering about the condition of the timing belt, which is still factory installed when the car was built. Is it necessary to have a mechanic inspect the belt?
(2) Is it even practical to have it inspected? That is, is it easy to access or is the procedure to get to the belt quite involved? (3) Do people typically even have the belt inspected? I mean, is it a usual servicing job like an oil change? (4) I'm not having any issues with the way the engine runs. I was just wondering if an inspection is wise or even necessary. |

Re: Timing Belt discussion
No timing belt, it's a chain, no maintenance required.
