Re: W7 vs Solobaric L7
it's 295 like IIwhitexb0iII said, plus about 30 for shipping (it's facking heavy)
then you have to get a 600-1200rms amp to power it nicely then sound deaden your car before unscrews itself and you car falls apart while driving but seriously, for $600 for sub and amp you can't do better, although Resonant Engineering comes close. and stars are a level of how cool you are, I have 3, that means I'm "extra cool". Haibane is "crazy cool" with 4

in terms of musical performance, the MTX 9500 does not even come close to the W7. i wouldn't say overrated since its probably one of the top 5 subwoofers that exist in the car audio world. the MTX uses a SGLC designs. i can bet its has a parabolic BL curve. the further the driver moves, the more distortion u will get. BL drops off quickly, where as the JL W7 can maintain most of its motor force throughout the displacement range. and if thats not enough, the MTX's KMS curve is probably parabolic too. but who am i to say who would buy what?

12" Stereo Integrity Magnum D2- $300 shipped
its probably one the best valued sub right now. of course thats what i think. will suffice in a 1.5 cubic feet ported box. actually thats recommended. sealed takes .8 cubic feet or so for an alignment of .707 (like it matters anyways..lol)

Ok, here goes my little advice on your question. ok to start lets look at the performence of each sub...
W7: Recomended RMS:900 and Peak: 2000 Solo Baric L7: recomended RMS:750 Peak:1500 W7 db: 92.43 L7 db:89.53 (the decibal rang of each sub varries with applications) now lets compare the pricing: W7's rang from anywhere from $499, too $1000 L7's can rang from $175 to $400 Also when you think about buying a sub(s) you have to think about what you going to need to power your subs, and the the optimum performence out of everything. One W7 is recomended to be used with a 1400 watt amp (1 ohm stable mono) One L7 is recomended to be used with a 1200 watt amp (1 ohm stable mono) In the long run a L7 is going to be much cheaper the the "king of Subs" But also think about this... its all amater of oppinon. Right now i have running 2 12'' solobaric l7's hooked up to a kicker KX 1200.1 amp, my sytem in total proly cost about $1500 with head unit subs, amp, wireing, cap, mdf for the box. I've also hade the pleasure of beating 4 rockfordfasgate subs in a SPL comp, i ran 135 he ran 113... Basicly man the L7 you get a big bang for the little amount of money you spend... and its not like your going to want to peak out your subs, lol... either way with any sub you choose to get your ears are going to be hurting... dont listen to people when they say to go out and buy the jl w7, Most of these people are going off the rummors they hear. i bet only 1 or 2 people have turely heard the w7... Take my advice... theres not much of a diffrence in the 2 other then the shape... but this is only a oppinion, but i've hade the please to install both... and my vote goes with the Solo Baric L7 |

Re: W7 vs Solobaric L7
also if your looking for a big ass sub, look at the kicker Solo X, 5000 watts recomened and 10000 watts peak. another "big magnet sub" is the audiophonix... nice 50 pound magnet

Re: W7 vs Solobaric L7
If you are looking for a big sub, look at db monkey also, there are some other SPL oriented subs like the MT or the Elemental Designs 15 that they made a while back, but that is hard to come by. Also, there are a lot more, I just don't know the names of the top of my head. Kicker's solo x pales in comparisson to true SPL oriented subwoofers.

Ive heard an 8w7 but not a bigger onw sounds good gets loud but the price tag makes you want to vomit. I would much rather get an xxx or magnum. Most of all I would want a brahma 15. Definately would top the w7.

FLAME FLAME, I like the W7s, I like the magnums, I like elemental, I like adire, and I love RE.
I think of those, magnum and elmental win SQ though. Shear SQ though, Image dynamics.
