2008 CTS: AWD or not?

Hello,

I recently drove a rented 2010 Cadillac CTS 3.6 and absolutely loved it. I am considering buying a used 2008, and I am wondering about the CTS4. I live in the northeast USA, so there are day when the AWD would come in handy. My question is this: is the AWD model prone to any additional mechanical issues or expenses? Is the additional weight and complexity, and reduced fuel mileage (if any) worth it?

Also, many of the AWD cars seem to come with the Direct Injection engine. What kind of mileage could I expect with the AWD/DI combination? Any other thoughts or opinions would be welcome.

Thanks!

AWD is great in the rain or slippery conditions, yes weight hurts mileage, as far as maintenance unles something failed in the awd system there should be no issues. Mileage can be found by googling that cars mileage figures.

Re: 2008 CTS: AWD or not?

All wheel drive uses front wheel drive for ordinary driving conditions and automatically adds rear wheel drive capability as needed. This would mean that it would be very helpful for you because of where you live. The 2010 Cadillac CTS AWD with the 3.6L engine, 6 cylinder, automatic 6 speed can get up to 18 MPG city, 27 MPG highway, and 21 MPG combined. The CTS AWD with the 3.0L engine, 6 cylinder, automatic 6 speed can get up to 18 MPG city, 26 MPG highway, and 21 MPG combine. You can find more information for the vehicle at http://www.cadillac.com/ctsSportSedan/2010/. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Tricia, GM Customer Service.
