Question on 99 EX Civic - B18C Swap???
I'm planning on doing a swap in a 99 Ex Civic.
I want to get a JDM B18C. What are the details I need to pay attention too in ordering a motor? I know the motor has to be OBD2? Right? Does it have to be a 99 B18C??? If I get a 96 B18C motor, it will be OBD1 right? All I need to do is get a OBD2 ECU? I'm a little lost about this OBD1 and OBD2 deal? Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 motors, and which yeah JDM motors are which?? Thanks in Advance! DK |

Your motor must be OBDII and have a hydraulic transmission.
It must be legal - so buy from a legit source. Make sure you're getting papers. The really, really technical (not like..motor technical..like..literally technical) will say it must be your year or newer. But you can put in a 96-00 B18C. 1996 is OBDII. Anything before that is OBDI. I don't understand the "which JDm motors are which?" part - can ya explain further? OBD means On Board Diagnostics. OBDI was from like...1992-1995. OBDII began in 1996. It is mainly emissions control. www.redime.com/swaps Buy a B18C from there. It's legit and the swap is complete. Tell them Sean sent you. Hit me up on AIM - ThEvTeCbOi

Doesn't the engine have to be USDM in the first place in order for it to be legal? Or is that just California?
