McLaren 570S
Revell's new McLaren 570S, just arrived today.
I didnt take any pics of the parts trees but you can see a nice unboxing video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vpsot6bH5c And for a change I got one with a straight chassis. As per Revell's recent releases, nice kit, crappy wheels and tires. I've swapped mine out for Plamoz's Porsche 918 Weissach Package set along with the 918 kit tires. They require a bit of modding to fit right, but not much. Quick mock up with only one of the rear brakes in place to get a look at ride height, this should be pretty close to what it will look like over all. More later. David |

Re: McLaren 570S
Can't wait to see more. Plamoz will be producing alternative wheels for the 570 shortly.

Re: McLaren 570S
Small update.
I added some 5/32nd Evergreen styrene tubing to the inside of the wheel assemblies to fit the Plamoz wheels properly, then shaved the mounting peg on the backside of the Plamoz wheel to sit back into the body like it should. Over all easy fix. I also split the front bumper and attached the top half to the body along with the rear side pods. The doors are just taped into place atm. The lower half and the front spliter is just taped as well for mock up. (Front wheel is sitting out abit on this shot, it doesnt really, must of slipped out some while I was moving it around for pics. It actually sits back where it should.) Still waiting on my new airbrush to arrive so no paint till then, and as of now, I'm still undecided on what colour to go with. More tomorrow. David |

Looking good, how do the doors fit?

Re: McLaren 570S
Not bad, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to display it with the doors closed or open. I'll likely wait to see how the interior comes out and if it looks really good I might leave them up.
Small update, got everything primed and about half of everything painted. Body was done in Gunmetal first. I then masked off the areas that will get carbon fiber, shot some silver mid coat....sorry forgot to take a pic, but it was silver......trust me.....then I started in with Gravity Colors Hot Lava Orange. The first couple of coats looked like a metallic rose, and I wasnt happy, but by the third coat the orange started to show. It now looks more copperish than orange. But I like it as it is. We'll see what the clear brings. All the gunmetal will be done in split CF.....when I'm feeling brave enough to tackle it as it will be my first attempt at doing CF that way. More work tomorrow as I have the day off. I'm hoping to have everything painted then I can start in on sub assemblies and detailing. CF work later in the week. Comments and criticisms always welcome. Re: McLaren 570S
The doors look like they fit well to me. What is "split" CF?

Re: McLaren 570S
Awesome progress, although IMO the wheels seem a little big from looking at the pictures, keep us posted.

I didnt get to the CF decals this week like I wanted to but I'm hoping to in the morning. I pooched the orange paint on the interior and had to strip it, so I'll have to reprime and paint tomorrow and while that's setting up I'm planning on starting on the CF decals. Quick shot of it mocked up. The front of the body looks like its sitting high, but once the front spliter is attached it will pull the front end down to where it should be. No clear yet so the colour will change and should pop more, but I actually really like the coppery look it has right now. Wheels are done in GC's OZ Gun Metal and are not cleared yet either.
