Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Back again and modelling cars after a long break! This time I will build one of my favorite cars, Bmw E36 M3 sedan, or Limo as they are called in Europe.
There is no M3 Sedan as a kit, so I have to "frankenstein" two kits together. Using an old Revell kit bmw 320i stw for the body shell. ..and rest of the parts from an Dragon Bmw M3. Since the body from the revell kit(I believe from the begining this is an reboxed Hasegawa kit) is prepainted it has to be stripped from paint. Side skirts being cut off to be replaced with the M-technic side skirts from the Dragon kit. And front and rear bumper fitted as well.. The wheels, M Style 23 Contur I´m using for this build, is custom made by an Ebay member called barabakin09 and they are very well replicated resin wheels. Need some minor modifications the achieve a "staggered" set and to fit but no big deal. After some touch up with putty and wet sanding it´s time for some primer. I used Zeropaints grey primer for this. All parts are left to dry before next update. /Schnitzermann

Nice, can't wait for more! I wonder, though if it would have been better to start off with the Revell or Hasegawa sedan (non-racing) versions, as they have the sedan interiors.

Re: Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Test fitted body and chassi for ride height inspection.
..and discovered some model flaws from (Revell)Hasegawa. Front fender flares are not replicated correctly. Here compared with a body from a Revell 1/24 Bmw 325i kit. Corrected those as well... And reprimed everything again.. Bmw M Contur 17 inch rims been painted and Bmw logos added. /Schnitzermann

Re: Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Nice job so far
The flares are only enlarged on the RoG version; the Hasegawa body is correct for the street car in all guises. Also of note is that Hasegawa's sedan bodies are the same, for street and race. To further confuse us, the RoG race sedan comes with those Dragon M3 coupe door panels; neither Hasegawa street sedan comes with them. |

Re: Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Since the body is painted and left away to fully "gas out" I went ahead with the interior. Since I used the race version of a sedan kit I had to partially scratch bulid it up.
I allready have some sedan front seats from a revell bmw kit which I modifyed a bit, scratch build some front and rear headrests and lowered the way too high for my liking backseat from the Dragon kit. I also modded the parcelshelf to the correct appearance. The interior painted. The windows will cover up most of all tiny details so I didnt do anything about the 2-door side panels. I also raised the instrument panel 1mm so it willl meet up with front windscreen better. /Schnitzermann

Re: Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Polished the body and prepared it for trim and detail painting.
A third rear stop light maked up and painted. The "white" sludge you see of the windshield, is traces of adhesive from the prepainted kit set. A partly scratch build exhaust for the more correct look. Engine, gearbox and undertray isnt correct, but I skipped to rebuild them this time. Wouldnt be seen much anyway when displayed. /Schnitzermann

Re: Revell/Dragon 1/24 Bmw E36 M3 Sedan Euro
Detailing continues. Added adhesive foil to replicate exhaust heat shield.
And exhaust is ready to be in place. And the finished Bmw M3 Limo after decaling and minor touch up. See more pictures of the finished product at:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...62#post7193562 /Schnitzermann

Excellent work!,just curious what did you use to paint the exhaust?i usually just use a silver color, but I find the results look so unrealistic.
