Defender for U.S.?
Land Rover has been giving the Defender a lot of publicity recently. In Tomb Raider, not only does Lara drive a D-110 HiCap, but a few other characters in the movie drive 90s and 110s. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has just introduced a new ride featuring Defender 147s, and Land Rover is a very large supporter of this ride, with direct links from each others' sites, and quite a number of Land Rover logos all over the event. I see all this publicity as trying to stir up some hype for the re introduction of the Defender to America. The Wrangler is going to have a new competitor pretty soon! :smoker2:

What's the price tag on a defender? How much more expensive than a wrangler would they be...or would they?

I would have to guess that there would be two "models" of every Defender. One would be the stripped down version for off road and to compete with the Wrangler, probably priced from $20k , and then there would be a "luxury" model, much more appointed, possibly from about $30k.
There are two schools of thought on how the new US Defender will effect the '94, '95, and '97 Defender 90 prices. Some say the cost will come way down, due to a larger supply, while others say the price will go up, labeling how the "old" D-90s will be considered classics, almost a sort of "limited edition" type of thing. I am pretty split as to what I think on this issue. |

Approx. how long will it be until we can expect to see the Defenders reach the American market? Anybody know?

Since Ford has bought Land Rover, I've heard rumors that the Defender will be available in 2-3 years, but they're only rumors....

Re: Defender for U.S.?
Enzo,
As for the price question, Adam is on the right track with the older Defenders becoming classics, but the prices will be a little higher than that. For a '97, with not many options, you would be looking at about $37,000.(there's one for sale near my house) They are pretty rare, and there are people that will pay that much for them. Just so you know, ours new was $32,000 with the same kinds of options as that '97. Ours is a '94, but that will still give you an idea that the Defenders are definately retaining their value, if not increasing in value. I really hope LR brings the Defender back, its a great truck! -Brad |

I really hope they do bring the the Defender back and drop the prices some. However not if their going to f**k up the looks. Like the free lander that thing dosnt fit into the Land Rover family at all IMO. I was looking for a Defender as my first car but their all priced too steep for me Now im looking for an E30 or early E36 3 series their under $10,000

Land Rover should bring the Defender here. The Euro/dollar doesn't help though.

Re: Defender for U.S.?
why will land rover give name to defender , they are already , in many places known as 2 individuals.
I mean like the land rover , most models are excecutive types that includes the range rovers and those , but all the defender series are muscle cars and those types.
