Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Sure............I thought I had already posted these but It must have been elsewhere. I stripped the chrome usin bleach and cleaned up the miniscule molding seams and sharp edges. Painted with Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminium, cleared with TS-13 and given a light polishing using Tamiya compounds. Tyre treads were sanded and sidewalls lighly scrubbed for realism. Valve stems are from Hobby Design... intended for 1/12 Motorcycles. Regards, Dan

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Scale Motorsport has made a pre-liminary announcement for their up-coming 1/12 Enzo details.
Check out the details HERE and register your interest. Edit : it seems you will need to email matthew@scalemotorsport.com directly to register as the "contact" link on his page is incorrect First up is an 8 sheet Carbon Fibre decal template set, which will be priced at $90. This will cover the outside of the body panels, similar to their 1/24 FXX set, but once again the monocoque gets left out. They are also releasing, what looks like a single (albeit LARGE) photo-etch sheet. This one will be $55 Regards, Dan

Unfortunately the photoetch looks like a waste. Tamiya already gives you photoetch mesh, and as has been discussed, the brakes really don't need the etch, so you're already losing most of what comes on the sheet.

If you go to the link quoted above (the actual SMS website) you will see where Matthew notes that the PE image is just a placeholder and that the actual product will not have any PE parts that duplicate what comes in the Tamiya kit.

HERE is the link straight to the item on SMS's website. Most decent online retailers list it, but I have noticed many of them currenty show it as out of stock. Regards, Dan

I finally got around to ordering the Hobby Design detail set tonight, Ill post some detail pics once it arrives.
Anyone else got this set already and wish to share your impressions? I'll make a more concerted effort to make some serious progress on the big Enzo once I have this set in my hands. Regards, Dan

Re: Tamiya 1/12 Enzo Ferrari..... Whats in the box... First Look
Sorry for causing any aggro....
I've got the kit and it is ACE. DON'T waste any more money on any of the so-called 'upgrade' rubbish. The 'upgrade' companies must be gritting their teeth, as there's literally NOTHING to upgrade! This kit DOES NOT need it. The included detail will keep ANYONE except the most obscure rivet-counter happy. I will be building the kit 'mostly' OOB and the end result will be amazing! OK, I will add a few 'Google' image details, but after spending around £350-ish on the kit (depending where you live) you really DON'T need to spend more on upgrade stuff. This really is Tamiya state of the art. Anything else is rivet-counting! If you want to add accurate carpet fibres, detailed window dust and accurate seat belt stitching, then ok, waste EXORBITANT money on pointless and unnecessary upgrade stuff. My advice? Buy the kit. Stop looking at 'extra' rubbish that only enhances the sellers bank balance! Get one while you can. OOB will still be the most detailed kit you ever built. Roy. |

The GT needed more help than that PE and baggy seats supplied.

Well Roy, you are right, but I just said I wanna wait. That doesn't meen I'm gonna buy
Just see, if it is worh it, what is included, what price, etc. But what I will wait for are carbon fiber decals, that is a must. To build that car OOB without them doesn't make it justice. In my opinion |
