'04 Santa Fe died while driving and won't start again

I had a 'check engine' light on and needed to clear it to pass smog testing in Nevada. After running diagnostics I got my uncle to try and replace the Oxygen sensors that seemed to be the culprits. After removing the sensors he realized the new ones I bought were actually not compatible with my car.

He put the sensors back and used a diagnostics computer to somehow clear the engine light. After driving about 40 miles I took the car for smog testing and it passed. I went home and everything was fine.

Later in the day I drove to the store and on my way back the car died on me in the middle of the street. There were no noises, no sputtering, no roughing...it simply went dead. I stepped on the gas and nothing would happen, thankfully I was able to cruise to a stop and park safely.

I tried to restart, the engine would turn but not start. All lights come on so I've ruled out the battery, which is new anyway.

Does anyone have any insight? My uncle says it's probably he fuel pump but the sudden death of the car and no noises or sputtering lead me to believe this might not be the issue.

My car is a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe automatic transmission, 6 cylinder.

Surely this is fixed by now, but I'd suspect the timing belt.
