Re: Starting the LS1 Swap

Did you have to cut frame crossmember to fit the LS engine or was it already cut?

Re: Starting the LS1 Swap

It's ALIVE!!!

After some troubleshooting, it's alive!

Watch the first video, especially humurous..."someone" nicked an oil line with an amgle grinder and the oil pressure was a bit to high for the weakened hose!
First start
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLp8PJWmQys

Second start
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G3TXWzYCcc

It's still running a little rough, the carb is not even close to being tuned, and the headers are not connected to the rest of the exhaust!

But at least i know it starts!

I remain totally innocent in the nicking of any braided lines..

Re: Starting the LS1 Swap

Cool oil fountain. Could have been worse. Could have been pointed where you couldn't see it...

There are several people who appreciate you working out and posting the details of this swap.

We should plan on Roebling and/or Road Atlanta with Chin before and after Thanksgiving this year. I will be at both for sure.

Thanks, yeah i want to get back down to Roebling, sounds great to me!

Hopefully all my work will help someone in the future!

It's getting close but still a lot of little crap to do, but at least it's running!

Re: Starting the LS1 Swap

Eric,
Great video. It is possible you have "engine transplant rejection syndrome" , still too many Ford parts hooked up to the GM motor. Or it's possible you did something to upset the karma of the chassis or motor, such as not properly introducing them. It seems to me that the gyser was intentionally directed toward YOU rather than in some random direction. I would wear eye protection until you can work it out between these two. Faster lap times should change the dynamics, but some sensitivity training and bonding time may be needed. The LS1 may think this is some sort of weird "stimulus program" and the Panoz chassis may think it is being sold to GM and the UAW. Best to have a frank and open discussion before this gets out of hand

Mike

Re: Starting the LS1 Swap

Actually, I'm Tom's dad. But he is my hero. I don't know about his decals, but he'll read this and remember me for Father's Day (or he's dead meat) and might let you know he got the decals.

Since I'm getting my plastic car all polished up, I'll need some decals pretty soon as well, so there'll be another order. Since my car is white, I want some side graphics to dress it up. I haven't made up my mind yet or if I did I forgot. I'll ask my wife what I decided. She might have written it down so she could remember to tell me we can't afford it and say (one more time), "You're obsessed [or is it abscessed], it's only a beat up old race car." LA LA LA LA LA
