e36 engine in an e30 325i
I have read in countless articles that you can put an e36 m3 engine into an e30 325i. however, my main concern is that there is not enough room for air conditioner in there. I live in Texas and it gets insanely hot out here during the summer. So it's basically a necessity. Is there anyway that I can fit that m3 engine in there and still have air conditioning? Also, I have heard you can put a chevy small block engine (LS1 engine) in there but it's kind of a myth I think because I can't find any mounting kits. But anywho. Thanks for reading

Re; E30 with E36 engine
I suggest you check out this site - http://www.zionsvilleautosport.com/
They have a CD-rom with everything you need to know on fitting an E36 engine into a E30. They call it 'project Orca', and fitting AirCon is listed on the CD-rom. Hope this helps Regards Rossco 1996 E36 320i |

if you dont personally want to do the swap with that Zionsville CD info, www.TurnerMotorsport.com does that swap often, but theyre located in MA.
i believe www.Kormanfastbmw.com also does it and they are somewhat closer to you. i would say theres enough room in there for a cheby small block itself, but the exhaust may pose some routing problems as could the transmission itself. the e36 M3's tranny pretty much fits right up there, but i dont know if a T56 attatched to an LS1 will, and if it does, theres no garuantee the shifter linkages will line up with the shifthole coming through the center console. as far as actually mounting the LS1 i beleive you'd probably have to fabricate your own motor mounts. simply put, with enough $$$ anything is possible. |

e 36 in an e30 325i
Hi...
Since you live in Texas contact www.bmpd.com. They're located in Tyler, Texas. They've done that exact engine swap for their company racing car and they used the body of an 1984 318i. If you want info just contact them and I think i'm gonna do the exact same engine swap. Because my 1985 318i engine is just too weak to produce the horsepower I need. PEACE!!!:smoker2: :grey: :sun: :bandit: |
