I have a 3 door Sierra, originally 1,6l
Cool cars you have there xrscooby, I wish I had some more cash! then I would go for the Escort Cosworth.
But the sierra I have now, will have to do for a while longer. I like the car a lot, it's got full cossie styling and it's been lowered 40mm, it has 16"x7,5" Momo arrows on it. Currently rebuilding a 2l sohc engine. And this unit will give the car a tad more punch than the 1,6l engine. Rebored block with forged Mahle pistons 91,93mm placed above deck, balanced rods and crank. Dual 45 Dcoe weber carbs on a hi-flow intake. Kent rl 31 camshaft. Fully adjustable Steel Pulley, Ported head and 2,5" race manifold. I don't know how much hp it will give, but I guess it's in the range of 150-200 hp. Hope to install the engine this weekend. :sun: |

Sounds like fun!.A friend has is just about to finish his high compression 2.8 block for his 4i which should be interesting..
A few details on my cars can be found here! http://www.xrsouthern.co.uk/profiles/scooby.htm I think the 2 litre pinto was about 125BHP as standard so you should easily get into the 150-200 bracket..

If it only was 125hp
The standard 2l pinto in carbed form was 105hp, the injection model had 115 i think, and the IS dohc engine 120hp. The later zetec engine has about 130hp. The engine rebuilder that machined the top, so i could fit the dual springs for the cam. He built a sohc engine with bigger valves and plowported head and about the same setup as i have, and it produced 223hp. that's awsome for an n/a sohc engine.
with a cosworth block and modified cosworth head in N/A form can deliver 350bhp. think what that would sound like? add some nitrous oxide there, and were up in 450bhp non turbo 2litre. but the costs must be awfull... |

Getting me Pinto's and I4's mixed up!
Girlfriend has the 1.8 Zetec engine in her Escort and that's a blinding little engine. 450 N/A! Reliabilty must be a bit of an issue!.... Would be a laugh though!

I guess it would be a bitch to drive
450 N/A would be fun to drive i rush hour, just think of the rpm and clutching, Oh no, must keep it above 5000rpm or it will go dead...lol
