Re: Passed on the LS1/T56 Panoz and went with another Z06
The waxer in me wiped down the engine bay. Cleans up nice for a 10 year old 120k mile car. Cowl trim and wipers back on as well.
New windshield OEM rear glass reinstalled. Will eventually do lexan but ran out of time Gettin' there |

Re: Passed on the LS1/T56 Panoz and went with another Z06
I never really updated this thread since getting the car finished. I did comp school at VIR in October 2011 and have been mostly racing the car since with a few TimeTrial/Instructing weekends thrown in.
With some of the tire rules changes NASA made at the begining of this year (Making the 255s Hoosiers "cost" the same as a 275) I decided to test running on a 245 A6. By going even smaller I was able to make the car 20lbs lighter and run up to 387 rwhp. However, I don't have the modification points to run long-tube headers so I had to make due with an air intake and cat delete. The car ended up making 365 rwhp on a conservative tune and 360 ft/lbs of torque. I was able to re-take the VIR TTA record in February with a 2:03.65 so the mods worked out. My prior record was a 2:04.8 which was beat by my buddy in October (also in a C5 Z06) with a 2:03.9. Weekend before last I raced at Road Atlanta in PTA. It was my first time racing on the little tires, scrubs at that, and the car did better than expected (tires didn't cord). I was able to take pole in my class on Saturday, but finished 2nd and ended up starting 3rd on Sunday and finished 2nd. Mods since my last update: Wilwood SL6Rs. Much fatter pads than OEM calipers (7420s - 20mm) 245s mounted up on C6 Grand Sport 18x9.5 front wheels Oversized 255 on the left that I used to run vs. the 245 Spal 16" fan Cat delete New Schroth's with pull up lap belts Right side net to be legal for W2W Some updated graphics and the GS wheels with 245s On track shot from VIR in March Video from Saturday's race a couple of weeks ago - http://youtu.be/4Oi1xglhfTE Cool highlights from the guy who beat me both days - http://vimeo.com/44268014#at=0
