96 grand am SE power pack

Does this look like it would cause issues with the car running correctly? The car just started acting up one day and I had to tow it home. I could get it to start but it would backfire and miss terrible. The minute I put it in drive it would stall. Now it doesn't want to start at all. Sounds awhful when its cranking.

I had the ICM tested and it shows it is fine. I had two codes that I pulled and one was p0300 and p0172. I had read that some people had issues with the vacume line that went to the pcm, i think that is correct.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A vac line to the PCM? That's a good one.

That's the ignition tower, you have a picture of....

Have seen carbon tracking problems in that white tower, cause misfire problems......but also you could have a coil problem(there are two in the tower)....could even have an ICM problem.....I know you had it checked, but more often than not, ICM's don't fail when cool and tested....

If I had to guess, I wouldn't be leaning towards the ICM.....Have replaced a lot of towers, and have replaced some coils......

With that P0172, I would also pull the vac line to the F/P regulator to check for fuel in the vac line....

Glad you got a laugh from that one. It's the MAP sensor.
I'm going to check those first before I spend anything on the ICM or coils.

Thanks
