Wimdshield Question on 95TS

I just picked up a 95 TS for real short cash. Dropped in a battery and Vroom started right up. Tho there are some minor problems. Window regulator motor, door locks sticking/ needs a tail pipe. My question is why is the windshield tinted a goldish color? Is it heated or is that just normal for a TS?

????..I'm puzzled....as I never saw ..or noticed...that on this model....
I remember Fords of "then" years to have an optional goldish colored windshield inner film used for heating the windshield, indeed.

No factory heated windshields on that van. Maybe an after market tint?

Re: Wimdshield Question on 95TS

Your eyes do not decieve you. Because of the size of the windshield, the plastic vans came from the factory with an imbedded coating to reduce the amount of baking done to the dash and front seats by the sun. Some replacement glass had a more gold tint than the original silver. If you take a look, these vans can be quite difficult to see into directly from the front when in bright sunlight.

Re: Wimdshield Question on 95TS

Ah yes that sounds like what it is. The windshield is a Goldish tint. Thought my eyes were going bad. I have several other things I'll be posting about as the weeks come. Right now I am trying to figure out the door locking system and how to deactivate the central locking system. I accidently closed the doors with the keys in the ignition and the van NOT running and the slider door opened by itself. Is this something that happens so you don't lock the keys in the car??

Re: Wimdshield Question on 95TS

Yes if its the factory windshield it will have a Tint in it... It reduces a lot of the UVA and UVB rays... And yes it does help keep temps down inside the van..

I am half hazard to say that its the same tint that was used in a lot of the 91-99 C and H body cars which was called EZ Cool Glass..

Both my 95 Transport and 95 Bonneville have the same tinted look to the windshield from the outside...
