clearing P0446
It was getting harder to fill up with gas and then the check engine light came on. Trip to the mechanic. "I checked everything. All is clear, your good to go. If it comes back on, let me know." He's a good mechanic, so off I went. It came back on. I realized there was no 'whoosh' when I took the cap off to get gas so I bought a new gas cap. Not the problem. Now it was almost impossible to fuel up. Google gave me some education and I found the charcoal filter and looked in the bottom vent hose. There was a cocoon blocking it at the end. I removed it with a pencil and got gas immediately. I finally could fill the tank. Many starts and miles later the light was still on so I went to Autozone. Code P0446. I read an on line post “P0446 – This indicates there is a restriction or blockage of the Vent Solenoid. This is a TYPE B code. Any thing that prevents the venting of the EVAP system will set this code…usually dust and debris in the Vent solenoid or a damaged vent hose will cause this.” The 'obstruction' seemed to fit as a solution. Question is, how long will it take to cycle out to get the light off? It's been one week already.

Pull the fuse for the ECM and reset it. If it is still a problem, it will return.
