Exclamation Engine Build-up

ok....i'm going FI with a D16z6 and I'm dedicating all of next year to working on the engine and turbo set-up. i had every intention to have an 03' IS300 by the end of the year....but i want to finish my civic 1st i plan on running high boost 15+psi and itz going to be my daily driver. i just got some help about turbo set-ups b/c i'm new to the whole engine game. as fas as engine build up...i only hear people talking about port-n-polishing, rods, and valve jobs. i know that there's more toit that just those things. i'm going to be working closely with a mechanic but i'm doing my own research to know what to look for and what i don't need b/c i want it done right the first time. so here's my question....what things do i need done to prepare the engine and transmission for high boost

also...i'm thinking of using n2o...which set-up would be better for what i am planning to do to the engine: wet, dry, or a fogger system

don't set a goal for how much boost you want to run, that's silly. Set a goal for how much horsepower you want to make. 15 PSI from an SC61 will make a TON more horsepower than 15 PSI from a T25. If you're talking to a local mechanic about building your engine, chances are he's never built a fast honda before, i'd recommend calling a reputable shop. Inline pro, import builders, and golden eagle are 3 places that I think do top notch work. Basically they're all going to tell you to get a new sleeved block with forged pistons and forged or billet rods, a good EMS, a big enough fuel system, and get it on a dyno to tune it before you drive it. Don't bother with nitrous on a turbo motor, it just gives you more headaches when tuning, it's expensive to keep the bottle full and keep bottle pressure up, and you'll need to pull some timing, run colder plugs, run more octane, or drop down the boost by a few pounds to use it.

so that's about it....and i'll just call around to some import tuning shops to get some more ideas.

the only reason i mentioned n2o was because i read on www.turbod16.com that this one guy had a big turbo on his y8 and he has a lot of lag....so to make up for the lag he had n2o installed so that when the n2o ran out he was already at full spool on his turbo

If it was me I would do this

port/polish
valve job
balance & blueprint
new cams
JG Pistons
Eagle rods
new fuel system, I dont think your D16z6 has MPFI so thats a start and also some 450cc injectors might not be bad idea
MSD ignition and coil
as far as cooling i would go with a HKS intercooler or Greddy intercooler...hope that helps

honing is a process of smoothing out the cylinder walls, its only nesecary when your replacing piston rings, which in your case im sure you would be, honing allows the rings to seat properly against the cyl walls.
