1995 Jimmy 4.3 vortech hard starting

I just thought i would get a second opinion on this. Its hard starting really bad when you let it set over night. The last time it did this it wouldnt start so i pulled a plug and it was soaked with gas.I have done a complete tune up with all ac delco parts and i checked for spark and lots of it nice blue spark. My thinking is it could be the fuel preasure regulator. When you first turn the key on the pump runs for a good 5 to 15 seconds. Now once you get it fired up and blow out all the fuel it will run decent but stumbles a little when you just hit the throttle real quick. The truck has 184,000 on it.The gm dealer wants almost $400 for a new injection system thats under the intake they tell me you cant buy just a regulator. But i work at a parts store and Dorman offers a regulator for this for $30 i have never sold one and i dont know if this will solve the problem. Thanks for any help

I just had to replace the fuel pump and "pulser" (regulator) on my '95 Jimmy. I got the regulator at Auto Zone for $20. The really bad thing is you have to pull the pump out (drop the tank) to get to it

The regulator is in the intake not the fuel tank. The part in the tank is the pulsator, they are two completely different things.

Question Re: 1995 Jimmy 4.3 vortech hard starting

Where is the regulator located? Isn't the pulsator a regulator of sorts?

Tnx!
Jon

The pulsator connects the output of the fuel pump to the fuel lines. On most models the pulsator is simply a piece of high pressure "fuel safe" rubber hose. Due to problems with the rubber hoses (pulsators) splitting, later the standard rubber pulsators were replaced with pulsators made of Viton, which is more resistant to deterioration.

The regulator is on the fuel injection assembly located inside the intake. The regulator is a common problem on the 92-95 vortec engines. The regulators will go bad and leak excessive amounts of fuel into the engine. Most people unwittingly pay for a whole new injector assembly (spider) when the regulator fails, but the regulator can be replaced by itself for much less money. There are some good pictures of the regulator and how to replace it here:

WTF does this have to do with the injector or fuel related issue started at the top of this thread?

Timing is 0 Degrees TDC, set TDC via cylinder 1...

Damn newbies!
