What's this sound like to you (video)? Tranny?

Sorry, not the best audio. Might have to turn your speakers up. The sound is the whiring in the background with a pitch that changed with acceleration.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dos5rVdJOuc

Info:

91' Maxima GXE Auto, high miles

Noise happens only when in gear. Not when in neutral or park.

Not real loud but noticeable at low speed when wind noise is low.

Trans fluid was changed some months ago and was dirty as it hadn't been done in some years. Fluid looks real clean now and has no smell or particles.

Trans shifts smooth and strong and is not misbehaving.

What do you guys think? Should I worry about the tranny?

- No. Does it have sound?

- Some months fly faster than flies: Was it then (?) just the Nissan lip service -or- was all oil changed? Oil is cheap, wont hurt if u change again all 8 Liters (2gal). See http://www.cardomain.com/ride/748507/24
I just swapped all using the 12V oil pump, still messy process:
1. suck all oil out via stick,
2. measure it and then ,
3. refill equal amount.
4. Idle for 15s (play with gears). Goto 1.; repeat 3x.

- Yes, do worry as its the main 'job' for us humans. Alas, Only Noise Insulation Hlps...

Re: What's this sound like to you (video)? Tranny?

I'll try and figure out a better way to get a recording of it since it's not real loud.

It's a whirring sound kinda like a tubocharger. Not real loud and I only interested cause it only happens in gear.

So your saying I should flush it? The fluid was replaced. It's super clean now. Looks like it just came out of the bottle. It's so clean I suspect it was flushed.

Re: What's this sound like to you (video)? Tranny?

I tried to get some video of the noise with the hood up, e brake on and car in drive but you couldn't really hear on the video it again. It's certainly coming from the tranny area of the engine. Obvious with the hood open in person but can't be heard at all while driving with the windows up.

Read up from your link about tranny fluid replacement. I may drain the reservoir and have a look at the oil color and plug magnet soon.

Perhaps I'm just being paranoid.

Getting mechanical vehicle noises recorded correctly needs very good microphones vid cams dont have.

Oil drop in dipstick is red even if its blk tar in the bucket...
I guess there is nothing one can do about a noise coming from tranny except changing oil. If only 1/4 was changed as usual, then u got just color, no lube yet...

Bearings can be noisy and cause no problems 'for a lifetime'. Except keep owner unhappy.
