Yamaha Problems

I have a 2001 yamaha TT-R 125l thats been given me some problems. I cant get it to start for anyting. It sounds like its trying but it just wont kick over. I changed the spark plug so thats not it. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Re: Yamaha Problems

Are you actually getting spark? Test it by removing the spark plug with the ignition lead connected and kicking it over. How about fuel? Have you checked the float bowl on the carb? What does it do with the choke on?

Re: Yamaha Problems

I would check your valves. Yamaha is notorious for not starting when the valves go out of adjustment. All you need is a fealer gauge, it is very simple to do, and should be done every so often. It does not take much to be out of adjustment to keep it from starting. Usually it will be running just fine until one day you shut it off then it won't start. Good luck.

Re: Yamaha Problems

Spray some starting fluid into the carb throat. If it starts, then I'd start with a carb cleaning. Doesn't take much to clog a pilot jet.
