535i Dead Battery Lock Out
My 1991 535i has a dead battery due to sitting too long. Unfortunately the doors are locked and I can't unlock them. Does anyone know how to open the hood to access the battery terminals there, or any other suggestions?

i have the same problem with my 525i, please someone help! i need to get home from school. i assume since the key doesn't work, a locksmith wouldn't be of any help...is there an emergency chord somewhere under the car?
p.s. don't say climb throught the trunk, trsust me the seat doesn't fold down. |

you can get into your car through the passenger side, turn key in lock, lift handle, and turn the key back and forth this will over ride the power locks...

Re: 535i Dead Battery Lock Out
I realize this is an old post, but I wanted to clarify the procedure of opening the door. None of the answers I read anywhere online gave enough detail. When I called my BMW dealer they explained the process.
Put key in, turn toward the locked position all the way, lift handle, turn key further toward the locked position. The key will click into a new spot and the door will open after sufficient force is applied. For me this worked on the passenger side. |
