Honda NSX Type R

I've seen pictures, and a Tamiya model kit, but I've been hard pressed to find any more info on it.

I think it was produced in '93, and it weighed way less than the regular version.

Can anybody point me towards some decent info and/or specs (and more pix)?.

I just got the model kit from Japan last week.

Starting as a motorcycle manufacturerback in 1948, the Honda Motor Company has been highly successful in demonstrating their superb automotive expertise in both commercial and Grand Prix races. During the 1989 Chicago show, onlookerswere in awe as Honda debuted their NSX sports car. The latest in automotive technology, blended with Honda's racing experience has been introduced into this totally new sports car. Weight savings and aerodynamics were top priority during its research and development stages. This was accomplished by keeping the vehicle as compact as possible and utilizing various aluminum alloys. The body shell, suspension system and chassis are fabricated from aluminum. At the end of 1992, Honda released a spartan version of this high performance sports car and designating it the NSX-R. The transverse mounted 3 liter V-6 cylinder powerplant underwent refinement through use of titanium parts allowing it to further improve response while running at higher RPM. The double wishbone suspension system which was initally designed for sport-driving underwent extensive tuning at racing tracks like Nurburgring, Germany, in order to increase handling potential of the NSX-R. The cockpit is race oriented with Momo made three-spoke steering wheel, solid titanium shift knob, and racing bucket seats fabricated from carbon/aramid composites. The NSX-R can be described as Honda's answer to the driving public seeking "agressiveness."

I thought all NSX's rear wheels are an inch larger than the fronts. Is this no longer so?

Also, I've never been able to find production numbers for the original NSX-R. Has anyone else ever seen them?

It's hard to find the information since we can't read Japanese. However I think no more than 500 original Type R were sold. NSX have 215ZR45 16" Front and 245ZR40 17" Rear.
