RPM problem
I have a 96 Tracker 4X4 5-speed and i am having troubles when the car is at operating temp. When i rev the motor to 2,000 RPM it fluctuates. It only does it at 2,000. The only engine code i have is a throttle position sensor circuit high, but its intermittent. When i unplug the TP sensor the problem goes away. I replaced the sensor but that didnt fix the problem. Ive replaced the O2 sensor in the exhaust manifold awile back. Ive tested the IAC valve, coolant temp sensor, Intake Air temp sensor and looked at the O2 sensor by the converter. When the Intake Air Temp Sensor is unplugged the problem goes away. The MAF sensor seems to be working. I replaced the fuel filter yesturday. Im running out of ideas, any help is appreciated.

Re: RPM problem
Check plug wires. I have had any number of plug and wire problems with the 96 - until I used a set of expensive NAPA wires. None of them ever set a code. Carbon buildup in the EGR tube and intake can cause lots of issues. A broken speed-o-meter cable can be good for cleaning this.

Re: RPM problem
Did you adjust the TPS to factory specs when installed?
