Funny Things People Say to DeLorean Owners

Not quite sure who/what he is talking about, I reply "Ralph who?" He answers: "The guy who made the car". All of the sudden it clicked, and I replied "oh...no. Its 'John DeLorean...not 'Ralph Lauren' "

He felt a little bit silly, and walked away without another word.

"WOW, where did you get that car?".

I gave him the usual intelligent remark: "I bought it!"

Then he said, "I thought they were all confiscated after the drug bust!!!"

A bunch of us decided we needed to gas up so we drove around looking for a nearby station. We all pulled in and started gassing up when the attendant (a young boy) came out and said "I never saw a Delorean up close before in my life and now here are 10 of them!!!!!"

I was at the gas pump filling the tank as usual... an older man (about 65 years old or so) walks over and starts asking questions about the car. First think out of his mouth is "Boy that sure is a neat car! ....is that a new electric car?"
...right as I'm standing there with gas nozzle in hand at a Mobil station. It was seriously hard not to laugh.

"Is that thar one of them thar Mazzeratties?" <-- The spelling really can't bring out the Oklahoma "good 'ol boy" accent, or the way she butchered Maserati when she said it. My wife and I still think of that and get a laugh out of it occasionally.

While filling up at the local gas station. An older gentleman just stood by and stared at our car. I smiled at him and had no response as he kept staring at the DeLorean.

Getting kinda weird now as I kept filling the tank while he would not even make eye contact but standing very close to me. After fueling up and heading for my seat I made one more effort to look at him. He finally looked at me and said: "It ain't got a lick of paint on it!"

Hahahaha, those are great! I only wish people said funny stuff to me when I was driving my delorean. All I ever got was "where's the flux capacitor" and "did those doors always open that way". That got really annoying.
